Awakened by a doorbell in the night,
Run to answer the door,
Welcomed by a burning bag of life.
Placed on my doorstep,
No trace, no sign of the deliverer,
Only a question
Of whether to get life on my new boots,
Or watch my house burn before my eyes,
Before my thoughts could synthesize.
Are our babies awakening to infernos,
Living life in a pit fire?
Working their life lost in the heat,
Without a chance to aspire?
Without a chance to breathe
Before facing the fire?
How can I be free,
With someone leading me?
How can I see,
When I only see what you show me?
How can we give in so easily,
Lead our lives this way?
Maybe because we're not leading them,
But instead following them as we pray.
What do I want,
What am I looking for?
I want a revolution for evolution,
A reexamination of life.
Take another look,
At what we call right.
